How to start safely with WireGuard, where to get help, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Last updated: 1 July 2026

OdieVPN uses WireGuard. At the beginning, you do not need a special OdieVPN app. You use the official WireGuard app on your device.

Start safely

Use OdieVPN only with a configuration you receive directly from OdieVPN.

Do not share your configuration with others. Your configuration contains information that lets your device connect to the VPN. Treat it as personal.

Step 1: install WireGuard

Install the official WireGuard app on your device.

WireGuard is available for many devices, such as:

  • iPhone;
  • Android;
  • Windows;
  • macOS;
  • Linux.

Preferably use the official app from your device’s official app store.

Step 2: add your configuration

After your invite, you receive a configuration file or QR code.

You can use it to add OdieVPN to the WireGuard app.

Keep this configuration safe. Do not send it through unsafe channels and never post it online.

Step 3: connect

Open the WireGuard app and turn the connection on.

If everything works, your internet connection will go through OdieVPN.

After that, briefly check that your internet still works. Notice problems? Turn the connection off temporarily and contact support.

What if it does not work?

First check these things:

  • Is your internet connection on?
  • Did you use the correct configuration?
  • Is the VPN turned on in the WireGuard app?
  • Do you have the latest version of the WireGuard app?
  • Does it work on another network, for example mobile data?
  • Is there no other VPN turned on at the same time?

Many problems are caused by an old app, a wrong configuration, or a network that blocks VPN traffic.

What should you not do?

Please do not:

  • share your configuration with someone else;
  • share screenshots that show keys or QR codes;
  • install unknown “VPN fix” apps;
  • change settings if you do not know what they do;
  • send your private key to support.

OdieVPN will never casually ask for your private key.

Need help?

Send us a message at support@odievpn.nl.

Please mention:

  • which device you use;
  • which operating system you use;
  • whether you use Wi-Fi or mobile data;
  • what exactly goes wrong;
  • which error message you see, if there is one.

Do not send passwords, private keys, or sensitive personal information.

Safe contact

If we need extra information, we will ask clearly.

We try to help you without asking for more data than necessary.

Speed problems

A VPN can sometimes affect your speed. This can be caused by:

  • your own internet connection;
  • distance to the VPN server;
  • load on the server;
  • your device;
  • the network you are on;
  • temporary outages.

We try to keep OdieVPN stable and fast, but we do not promise perfect speed. No VPN can honestly guarantee that.

Our support style

We want support to stay calm, clear, and friendly.
