Acceptable Use

Clear rules for normal, safe, and fair use of OdieVPN.

Last updated: 1 July 2026

OdieVPN is meant for normal, safe, and fair use of the internet.

We want to protect privacy. We do not want to enable abuse.

What may you use OdieVPN for?

You may use OdieVPN to better protect your connection, for example:

  • on public Wi-Fi;
  • while traveling;
  • on a network you do not fully trust;
  • as an extra privacy layer for normal internet use.

OdieVPN is meant for people who want to be online safely and calmly.

What is not allowed?

You may not use OdieVPN for abuse, harm, or illegal activity.

That includes, among other things:

  • no sending spam;
  • no phishing;
  • no fraud;
  • no threats or harassment;
  • no hacking or attacks on systems;
  • no DDoS attacks;
  • no distributing malware;
  • no misuse of accounts or passwords;
  • no scanning systems without permission;
  • no child exploitation or other serious illegal material;
  • no activities that harm other people, services, or networks.

What is not allowed without a VPN is also not allowed with a VPN.

No free pass

A VPN is not a free pass to break rules.

OdieVPN protects privacy, but it is not meant for harassing others, attacking systems, or breaking laws.

What happens if there is abuse?

If we receive clear signs of abuse, we may take action.

For example, we may:

  • temporarily block you;
  • end your access;
  • contact you;
  • take technical measures to limit harm;
  • respond to valid legal requests.

We try to handle this as carefully as possible. We do not want to collect unnecessary data, but we do need to keep the service safe.

Server load and fair use

OdieVPN is a small service. Please use it reasonably.

Use that seriously burdens other users or the servers may be limited. Examples include extreme amounts of traffic, automated abuse, or use that disrupts the stability of the service.

Invite-only access

OdieVPN starts invite-only. An invite is personal and must not simply be resold or shared with strangers.

This helps us keep the service safe, stable, and manageable.

We would rather think along with you beforehand than deal with problems afterward.
